About
My name is Michele Koury, a Columbia University-trained psychotherapist specializing in mood fluctuations, creative blocks, and relationship breakups. My practice, Know Yourself Counseling, is often referred to as "therapy for thinkers." Why? Sometimes we believe we can "outsmart" our problems, especially when we have achieved at high levels in other areas of life. I aim to create conditions of safety and comfort in our collaborative therapeutic space so that you can face your challenges and cultivate greater, deeper, empowered self-knowledge. If you're interested in the thrilling challenge that can be authentic self-discovery, we may be a good fit.
My style (informed by years of training in DBT and Psychodynamic Theory) is interactive, nonjudgmental, and productively challenging. I work especially well with women in life transitions, leaders facing work stress, and artists tackling the Big Questions. Ultimately, I assess every clientโs needs on an individual basis and customize treatment accordingly.
